COURSE DESCRIPTION

Overview This course gives you the skills to provide support and care to individuals and groups. At this level support workers and case-workers may provide day to day support in community settings and/or provide assistance with entitlements and benefits. Course Entry Requirements ·         Completion of Year 10 or equivalent life experiences ·         Mature age entry applicable Learning Outcomes ·         Basic understanding of the operations of Community Service ·         Ability to respond to client issues ·         Provide personal care ·         Senior First Aid Certificate Employment Opportunities To enable students who have successfully completed the course to work in the following areas: ·         Client Contact ·         Support Worker ·         Case Worker ·         Assistant Community Worker ·         Youth Housing Support Worker ·         Neighbourhood Centre Worker ·         Intake and Referral Worker (Aboriginal) ·         Youth Case Worker

COURSE OUTLINE
Commencement	Tuesday 27 January 2009
Completion	Wednesday 1 April 2009
Duration	3 days per week for 10 weeks Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 9:00am to 3:30pm (not including School and Public Holidays)
Location	42-46 Harrison Street, Cardiff 293-295 Mann Street, Gosford
Work placement	40 hours work placement within a Aged Care Facility is a compulsory component of this course
Attendance	85% of classes must be attended to achieve competency for this qualification
Course Fee	$1,650 (No concessions) Funding is available for this course under the Productivity Places Program, for more information please ask for an information pack. Deposit	$450 to secure a place into course Please note all deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred to another course.
What to wear	Dress in black pants/skirt, white (collared) stretch top and black enclosed shoes (required for OHS purposes)

Qualification	CHC30802 Certificate III in Community Services Work
