COURSE DESCRIPTION
 
Introduction
The Beauty industry in Australia is characterised by a substantial number of small businesses providing unique and complex beauty services to clients on a one-to-one basis.
The Beauty industry is made up of small employers, many of whom are self-employed and operate their businesses from salons, hotels, health spas and hairdressing salons and retail outlets.
Overview
The Diploma has been designed for those wishing to operate as a beauty therapist employing staff and managing a beauty salon.
It applies to those who are co-ordinating or managing the services within a small beauty salon, or a section or department within a larger store. It incorporates self-directed application of knowledge and skills.
The beauty specialist at this level would provide services, including lash and brow treatments, facial treatments, make-up application and providing Spa Treatments.
Course Entry Requirements
  • Completion of Year 12 or equivalent
  • Mature age entry applicable
  • Reading and writing - a learner will be able to read, comprehend and write a range of texts within a variety of contexts.
  • Oral communication - a learner will be able to use and respond to spoken language including some unfamiliar material within a variety of contexts.
  • Numeracy and mathematics - a learner will be able to recognise and use a variety of conventions and symbolism of formal mathematics.

COURSE OUTLINE
Commencement

Duration
3 days per week for 40 weeks
Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
9:00am to 3:30pm
(not including School and Public Holidays)
Location
295 Mann Street, Gosford
Work placement
240 hours work placement within a Beauty Salon is a compulsory component of this course. Suitable placements are arranged
Attendance
85% of classes must be attended to achieve competency for this qualification
What to wear
Dress in black pants, black (collared) stretch top and black enclosed shoes (required for OHS purposes)
