Funded Training: EBPPP - Enterprise Based Productivity Places Program 2010-2012.

$40m has been allocated through the lst round of Enterprises approved for funding to deliver almost 11,000 new training places for high demand skills for “Existing Workers”. 2nd round will deliver an est. further 2700 training places before July 2010.

  • Training commences 2010, delivered over the subsequent three years. 
  • Training is jointly funded by enterprises and Government

Under EBPPP, the National Industry Skills Council network will collaborate with enterprises, national professional associations and industry bodies. Industry Skills Councils will coordinate the delivery of training.

Push for our mature workforce to work longer

Australia's ageing workforce can expect to receive assistance in the near future from the Federal Government, with a funding boost of $43 Million. Designed to assist older people meet up coming challenges  to remain productive in the workforce longer.  It has been reported that the Federal Government has committed $18.8 million to 2000 training packages which will allow mature age workers to receive face to face job support , training and retraining for roles as Supervisors, Trainers & Assessors, Mentors to Apprentices and Young people, plus participation in a new "Golden Guru" Program. Mature workers are being asked to lead the way.

NSW Productivity Places Program

he NSW Productivity Places Program is part of the Australian Government’s Skilling for the Future Initiative.

The program will boost by 175,000 the number of funded qualifications for jobseekers and workers in NSW in the period to the end of 2012. The total comprises:

  • 58,000 job seeker qualifications
  • 117,000 existing worker qualifications

The first tender is underway and ends at 5pm EST on Wednesday July 22, 2009 with phase 1 contracts to the end 2010 to be let from mid August 2009.

A tender for phase 2 contracts is planned for September 2010 with contracts to be let for January 2011 to December 2012.

The program offers prioritised full qualifications for industry, including:

  • those experiencing skills shortages, e.g. Community Services and Health
  • industries of strategic importance, e.g. Advanced Manufacturing, Finance.

Apprenticeship and Traineeship Initiatives

Information regarding a new package of apprenticeship and traineeship initiatives announced by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard MP.  The package is designed to help secure the jobs and training arrangements of apprentices and trainees in the current economic downturn.  The package has two elements: the Securing Apprenticeships and Traineeships initiative and the Securing Apprenticeships and Traineeships through Registered Training Organisations initiative.
